Dr. Gregory Haley MD

Dr. Greg Haley began his medical career in Internal Medicine, but after a very rewarding rotation in the psychiatric crisis evaluation department at Wishard Memorial, he began to re-evaluate the path he wished to take in medicine.
Dr. Haley was very impressed with the manner in which the doctors at Wishard elicited information from distressed and disturbed clients to guide, help, and treat them. Furthermore, he realized that he was much more interested in looking at each patient as a whole person, rather than a collection of lab tests, values, and procedures.
So he applied and was accepted for a residency at the University of Southern California’s Psychiatric Residency Program. After one year there, missing time with his family, he transferred back home to the Indiana University psychiatric residency program, where he completed his training in 1994.
Dr. Haley spent his first four years as a psychiatrist working with the company that would become BehaviorCorp, a mixed mental health/private practice group located in Carmel, IN. There, he carried his own practice of high functioning clients with mood, anxiety and substance abuse disorders for part of each week. During the rest of the week, he worked in their day treatment clinic for clients with more intense and chronic mental illness.
Working with both in- and out-patients had their rewards, but one of the things he most appreciated about the practice was its informal and “homelike” atmosphere and the intermingling of the staff and clients at lunches and events.
He eventually moved to the Atlanta area, following his younger brother and family, largely to escape bitter Indiana winters. He worked with another mental health center in Athens and Monroe for a time, then briefly with another local private practice before striking out on his own to establish a private venture with Elle Trapkin, LCSW.
Dr. Haley and Ms. Trapkin wanted to bring the same warm, welcoming feeling to their new clinic which he had previously valued so much, and, based on feedback, they’ve succeeded.

Dr. Haley’s “sidewalk mix” dog, Rex accompany him every day and sit in on any session in which they are welcome by the clients. Dr. Haley, Rex invite you to come in and let them help make a treatment “alliance” that will help you!
Dr. Haley’s role in this alliance will focus mainly on “medication management” with the client, though he also spends time with patients exploring areas of conflict and difficulties in relationships. To ensure you get the most thorough aid possible, Dr. Haley will either work with your established therapist or refer you to a caring and reputable professional.
Dr. Haley is also a provider of an office-based solution for management of ongoing opiate dependence (Suboxone), an alternative to Methadone management for clients struggling with this issue.
Dr. Haley is currently on the Blue Cross/ Blue Shield PPO provider panel, but, as Alianza grows, he may join other panels. For billing information and payment options, please see our Policies and Procedures page.
